Sweet Treat Thursdays -- Recycling Acrylic Block Packaging

When Stampin' Up! ship their acrylic blocks, they're packaged in a neat plastic case that stays intact when you open it. Ooooooh, goody! That means it can be re-used! Which is exactly what I did here:

I wish I could claim credit for this amazing idea but I've seen it on a few blogs. I thank whoever came up with the original concept. Each plastic container has a nifty cavity that is perfect for my small Easter mint drops. Dressing up the containers is quite easy. When you open the back flap, you measure the part where you'll put a piece of DSP. Here, I'm using the Tea Party DSP (#113992) which is perfect for Easter. I rounded the corners of the DSP with the 3/16" Corner Rounder Punch (#109047) and laid that piece of paper over the candies.

For the front, I stamped Happy Easter from the Well Scripted stamp set (#118601) in Chocolate Chip ink and punched the sentiments with the Large Oval Punch (#107305). These pieces were layered with a mat punched from the Scallop Oval Punch (#114889).

I also punched two holes at the top for the ribbon with my Crop-a-Dile (#108362). This part is not necessary but it just adds a nice touch.

I also decorated the back so I could write a little message to the recipient:

Using the Picnic Parade (#118541) stamp set, I stamped the little birdie and the rabbit on Pretty in Pink and So Saffron CS and colored the images with a Blender Pen (#102845) and Classic inks.

I think recycling is a fantastic idea, especially when it involves giving candies! These would also be perfect for giving a small gift like say... a small piece of jewelry... embellishments... even a special surprise message.
