Sparkly Fun Fridays -- Lots of gifts

Sparkly Fun Fridays features a sparkly or glittery project using shimmer paints, embossing powders, glitters, rhinestones... anything shiny to welcome the weekend in a fun way!!!

Hi everyone,

Today's card is VERY sparkly and was VERY messy, but soooo worth the mess.

(I have trouble lately with my camera settings, the color are not exactly right, the supernova glitter that looks red is actually orange in person, sorry about that.)

How did I do that... Sticky strip !!! I just positionned 2" strips of this very strong adhesive, then one color at a time peeled off the red backing and sprinkled some superfine supernova glitter and then tapped off the excess (THAT was messy). To cover the edge of those not-always-straight-strips, nothing works better than a large ribbon.

As for the gifts, I stamped twice the image , omitting the top gift once. I got this stamp for free with Sale-a-bration and it's very versatile because you can add as many gifts as you like.
I colored with only my prismacolor markers (no gamsol).

Have a nice stampin' day

Sweet Treat Thursdays -- Decorated Chewing Gum Container

Sweet Treat Thursdays are all about food -- our other favorite topic -- and features ways to embellish/wrap/present something edible. CAUTION: May be hazardous to your waistline!

Hi everyone,

I like pretty things. I don't like it when things I reach out for often are note matching my "decor". Since I've sworn off mint candies because of an addiction to them, I started chewing gum... a lot of gum. So I buy it by the container:

But come on! How ugly is this?! Don't like it at all. I always stripped all the plastic wrapping but it was still ugly, so I hid the container behind my television. But I'm on a kick these days to pretty up my work area; after all this is where I spend most of my time. So this idea came to me:

I dressed up my ugly plastic gum container! Too much, you say?! Hardly! It's re-usable; I just fill it up with more gum when they're all gone. And it matches my little notebook so they both sit right in front of my computer!

The only secret here is not to obstruct the opening of the container. So I made a little slit in the ribbon in front of the flap and the DSP circle on the top is adhered only in the middle (with my glue gun) AND with a mini glue dot over the flap. I mixed white and pink felt for the flower and added a strip of white felt all around the container.

That way, the trap is free to open and out comes the gum!

Yeah, I'm kinda crazy but I love myself that way -- hehehehe! I like matchy-matchy pretty things.

Have a nice stampin' day! CeeCee

Whatever Challenge Wednesday - Color Throwdown #81

Whatever Challenge Wednesdays features a challenge from the blogosphere, chosen randomly. Here's our pick for this week:

Happy Wednesday everyone,

Today, we're playing with the Color Throwdown Challenge #81. The challenge? To use these following colors:
As weird as it sounds for me, I didn't feel like making a card. I picked up some mini composition books at a Florida office supplies store with the idea in mind to create cutsy little books to jot down notes -- cute enough to leave on a kitchen counter, an office, even the living room...

How cute is that?! I used one of my handmade felt flower to decorate the front as well as a sheet of Sweet Pea DSP, some 1" Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon and leaves punched out of Old Olive cardstock with the Extra Large Two-Step Bird punch from the Occasions Mini Catalogue.

The felt flower is accented with a Chocolate Chip brad from the Sending Love Epoxy kit. The instructions to make the felt flowers can be found on CeeCee's Creations blog here. Have fun experimenting with different types of fabric and incorporate them into your paper crafts. The Bigz dies for the Big Shot offer so many possibilities! I know I'm gonna have tons of fun for the next few days thinking up ways to use felt in my projects.

Have a nice craftin' day!

Two 4 Tuesday -- Baby boy Again!!!

Two for Tuesday features 2 projects that are similar in either color, theme, layout or embellishment but... with a different twist!

Hi everyone,

First I would like to apologize for hitting you with yet another baby boy card... But since I didn't spoke to Catherine since she went away to see the sun, I didn't knew what she was going to do for yesterday's post, and I made those cards on sunday night, probably around the same time she was doing hers !!! Let's just say that we really think alike and this is not the first time something like this happens...almost freaky...Love you Cath.

This week Two 4 Tuesday was inspired by this sketch over at Karen Giron's blog :

I really wanted to demonstrate how changing only the pattern paper could make such a huge difference in the feeling of a card :

The first one all in Bashful Blue as a serene and peaceful look

While my second attempt, with papers from the Sale-a-bration is a lot more playful and energetic...

Sentiment hidden in the "wave" is Rock-a-bye ...

Which one do you love better ??
In my opinion, both cards are perfect depending to whom the're gonna be given...Let's say I would send the monochromatic one to a new mom, who really need quiet and peaceful nights... While the other would fit better a mommy yet to be, with all her excitement toward the arrival of her new and beloved baby.

Quickie Mini Monday --

Quickie Mini Mondays feature a 10 minute-or-less project -- something fast, fun and easy to reproduce and mass produce.

Hi everyone,

For my Quickie card, I give you a non-conventional baby boy card. And it literally took me 5 minutes to put together.

I love the colors and geometric shapes of that paper from the Sweet Pea DSP. I think it's both funky and soft -- the modern look of the circles are softened by the Bashful Blue ribbon and card base and So Saffron. What do you think?

Have a nice stampin' day! CeeCee

Sparkly Fun Fridays -- Flamingo Style!

Sparkly Fun Fridays features a sparkly or glittery project using shimmer paints, embossing powders, glitters, rhinestones... anything shiny to welcome the weekend in a fun way!!!

Hi everyone,

Today it's glitter day -- our favorite day of the week here at Card à la Carte! We loooooove glitter!

My starting point today is the Pink Flamingo DSP. I love the colors but the paper is not glittered at all. So I got busy...

I added Aqua glitter from the Fine Supernova on the bird...

... Rose Pink glitter from Fine Cosmo and Dazzling Diamonds glitter on the flowers.

The rest is pretty straight forward -- Whisper White cardstock as a base and Whisper White Taffeta ribbon around the whole thing. The sentiments are stamped from Vintage Labels & Étiquettes d'époque in Basic Gray, both from Sell-a-Bration.

Ooooh, it shines and I love it!

Have a nice stampin' day! CeeCee

Sweet treat thursday -- Chocolate

Sweet Treat Thursdays are all about food -- our other favorite topic -- and features ways to embellish/wrap/present something edible. CAUTION: May be hazardous to your waistline!
Hi everyone,

I know it's past Valentine's day but I didn't want to spoil the surprise... I bought some chocolate hearts for valentine's day and I wanted a fun way to gift wrap them so I came up with this : it's a card and it has a built-in pocket to put whatever you like in it, you just have to customize your measurements to fit your needs.

The way I decided to decorate it is very much out of my comfort zone, but yet, I had some fun crumpling those papers to make the flower.

For the ribbon , I did put a piece of sticky strip under the ribbon so it holds in place with those wrinkles. To keep it close, I just made a little pool of Tombow mono multi liquid glue and I let it to dry completely to use it's repositionable application.

Whatever Challenge Wednesday -- Happiness is ...

Whatever Challenge Wednesdays features a challenge from the blogosphere, chosen randomly.

Hi everyone,
today's sketch is from Jen Del Muro : Valentine's Sketch for you to try (SFYTT)

From the moment I saw it, I knew it would be a good layout for a scrapbook page, so I decided to give it a try, her's what I've come up with:

An 8X8 page and I reversed the layout so it could better fit my photo

I know, most of you don't speak french so I'll try to do the traduction on my own since Catherine is away and cannot check me out, don't be to hard on me ;O)

My title is "this is Happiness"

And for the journaling:
"It's summertime, we are on a campground, the sun is warming us, it smells the forest, I ear your laughter while you are dancing and turning on the grass your "chubby" hands together, Sara is moving softly in my belly...This is Happiness. I adore this picture, it says so much about the fun you have playing together. Geneviève always knows how to make William laught, and she is always willing to follow him on his adventures even if it means crawling in the mud !! "
I used just perfect alphabet stamp set, flock togheter DSP paper, very vanilla and tempting turquoise cardstock, old olive stampin' write marker, recreation designer buttons and the little chipboard heart is from so tweet chipboard kit.

Have a nice stampin' day!

Quickie Mini Monday -- Or maybe not !!

Quickie Mini Mondays feature a 10 minute-or-less project -- something fast, fun and easy to reproduce and mass produce.

Hi everyone,

Sorry to tell you that today will not be a 10 minutes monday, not that I did not tried, but you know how sometimes, the cards, stamps or papers are ruling the world in their own strange ways...That was one of these cards... but don't worry CeeCee as a Quikie-Mini-Sparkly-Fun Friday in store for you. I guess you'll just have to wait...

So for today's card, I wanted to make a "Bon voyage" card for my friend and Card à-la-carte partner Catherine because she left yesterday for a much needed and well deserved vacation to sunny and hot Florida. Lucky her because here it's freeeeezing !! But I didn't have anything that screamed sun, hot or airplane... This is when I thought Ice cream... humm still didn't have any stamps for that...but what if ...and with that punch.... and then this sentiment... Finally today's card is probably a What-Can-I-Turn-That-Into Monday !! Anyway here's the card and it is also the sketch from FTL no 76 Challenge
And here's my version of the sketch:

Can you guess what stamp set was used ???
and here's my version especially for Catherine, I did change a bit the sentiment so it better fitted my needs...

Basically, it says "enjoy your day" but now it's "enjoy your week"
Cardstock are sahara sand, whisper white, pretty in pink and rose red, DSP is the free one from SAB, ink are pretty in pink, sahara sand and crushed curry. I also added some shimmer paint mist (alcool and white shimmer paint in a misting bottle) all over my sahara sand scallop circle.
So did you guess... it's the little hat from Beary best friends in the build-a-bear-workshop collection, flower blossom punch and good neighbor DSP paper from SAB.

Have a nice stampin' day!
