Sparkly Fun Friday -- friends forever

Sparkly Fun Fridays features a sparkly or glittery project using shimmer paints, embossing powders, glitters, rhinestones... anything shiny to welcome the weekend in a fun way!!!

Hi everyone,

Today's card was not intended for a Sparkly Fun Friday but because I went out last night, I was running behind -- so I took the card I gave my friend SophieThé for her birthday, added some glitter to it... and gave it right back to her!!!  We had a good laugh about it but all this took place while she was at my house so technically it was still in my possession.

I bought a few stamps last weekend while I was at a show and as soon as I saw this one I thought of my bff!

Aren't these little fairies the cutest you've ever seen?! And I made them sit down on a cloud of flowers, just like I imagine fairies would do. They're from Sweet November Stamps. I couldn't resist bringing them home with me and for once I knew exactly what I would make of them.  I colored them with the following Copic markers: E000, E00, E01, E21, R20 for the skin - E44, E47, E49 for the hair on the girl at left - BV0000, BV02, BV13, G20 for her dress, E31, E33, E15, E37 for the hair on the girl at right and G40, G12, G82 for her dress.  Shadows were made with black and brown pencils and OMS. I cut out the image and adhered it to the KaiserCraft designer paper with Stampin' Dimensionals.

For the bling effect, I added a little rhinestone flower in lime green in her hair and some liquid glue with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter on a few flowers.

More bling for this little one's hair -- two tiny flat back pearls. It's funny; now that I look at it I just realized that I forgot my highlights!  Sophie: I need the card back again!!! LOL

Whatever Challenge Wednesday -- Perfect gift...

Whatever Challenge Wednesdays features a challenge from the blogosphere, chosen randomly.
Hi everyone,

Today I decided to play with the color combo of the Play Date Cafe : PINK, YELLOW and ORANGE.

and also with Laura's sketch over at 2 sketches 4 you:

Here's what I came up with:

I recently stumbled upon a super clever tip from Patty Bennett on how to enlarge enveloppe from the scallop enveloppe Big Shot die so that it could fit a gift card. It is so simple but my old (and not so used) die as now a whole new life ahead...thanks Patty, that's what I love in sharing ideas.

As I tried the tip, I was struck by this idea. A little book of gift. I would be perfect for a group gift to a pregnant friend, retiring coworker an even for your picky teenager...Anybody would be please with this gift.

The best part of this is that you can put as many enveloppes as you need. Just make a longer accordeon and a deeper spine. A gift card fits perfectly in each enveloppe, but also would photos, tags, mini cards or simple cardstock with sweet messages...

It's so cute and tiny that it is very portable an will fit any purse...

Two 4 Tuesday: Two Different Coloring Techniques

Two for Tuesday features 2 projects that are similar in either color, theme, layout or embellishment but... with a different twist!

Hi everyone,

For today's post, I decided to play with the same stamp, same color scheme but 2 different coloring techniques.

The flower comes from Stampin' Up!'s Friends Never Fade stamp set and the sentiments are from Pensées en fleurs (Upsy Daisy). The color scheme used here is Poppy Parade, So Saffron and Baja Breeze and I picked it up from the Color Coach (love that thing!).

On this card, the image is colored in with markers, stamped on Very Vanilla cardstock then shadowed with a Blender Pen and Baja Breeze, Poppy Parade, So Saffron and Chocolate Chip Classic Inks.

Whereas this one was stamped on watercolor paper after I spritzed the stamp with water. Then I shadowed it with inks and the Aqua Painter.

Here's a close-up of each:

So this is a good example of how you can still fiddle around with a full image (as opposed to line art).  It gives the images depth and makes them come alive.

Quickie Mini Monday -- use what's in front of you...

Quickie Mini Mondays feature a 10 minute-or-less project -- something fast, fun and easy to reproduce and mass produce.

Hi everyone,

Today's lesson is all about saving time...instead of cleaning your desk...use what's in front of you to make a quick card (Well this doesn't apply to CeeCee since she NEVER have anything lying on her desk, she really put things right back where they belong right away. Let me tell you she goes crazy when we're working side by side LOL)

OK back to business, how to make a very quick card??? Take things you have on hand. I had this beautiful flower lying on my desk for quite a while now and also that 3"X3" scrap of patterned paper, All I had to do was to cut an Old Olive mat for the patterned paper and stamp a sentiment with my beloved Stamp-a-ma-Jig (this thing is always lying on my desk, cluttering my workspace, why put it back since I'll need it the very next time for sure???) and voilà.

Sparkly Fun Friday -- sparkling halloween

Sparkly Fun Fridays features a sparkly or glittery project using shimmer paints, embossing powders, glitters, rhinestones... anything shiny to welcome the weekend in a fun way!!!
Hi everyone,

Here's my sparkling card for today :

I made my own polka dotted sparkling paper with a 3/4" round punch and some sticky page (an old tip from CeeCee)...I simply punched a little bit, then turned a couple of degres and punched gently again, and I repeated untill my circle was entirely cut. Then, I glued my new stickers on the basic black paper and sprinkled some black glitters over it

Sweet Treat Thursday -- Dark Chocolate Slider

Sweet Treat Thursdays are all about food -- our other favorite topic -- and features ways to embellish/wrap/present something edible. CAUTION: May be hazardous to your waistline!

Hi everyone,

There's something luscious about the color purple paired with black that calls... chocolate to me. But then again, everything does to me! I'm a chocoholic. Here's a candy bar slider I just prepared for a special person:

I think it looks quite elegant. When you pull on the top ribbon, it acts as an elevator for the chocolate bar.

Inside is my favorite dark chocolate: Valrhona... so luscious... just like the color purple and the satin ribbon! I hope she likes it :-)

Whatever Challenge Wednesday - Mojo Monday 161

Whatever Challenge Wednesdays features a challenge from the blogosphere, chosen randomly.

Hi everyone,

For today's Whatever Challenge Wednesday, I'm playing with the Mojo Monday Challenge #161:

It was quite surprised at how quickly I decided on the stamp sets for this card. The layout just screamed "baby".

The main image is from Stampin' Up!'s Baby Bundle stamp set and colored with a blender pen and the following Classic Inks:

  • Pear Pizzazz
  • Baja Breeze
  • Early Espresso
  • Soft Suede
  • Regal Rose
  • Blush Blossom
The patterned paper and sticker accents are from the Nursery Suite DSP and Quick Accents. I love the color combination of this DSP and the Pear Pizzazz twill ribbon is a perfect match. The little tag and sentiment are from Tiny Tags stamp set and punched with the Small Tag Punch.

Two 4 Tuesday -- CAKES...

Two for Tuesday features 2 projects that are similar in either color, theme, layout or embellishment but... with a different twist!

Hi everyone,

I'm sorry to tell you that I have no cards for you to see today.... because I was so busy making theses:

Last weekend we celebrated my kids' birthdays, Sara turned 1 and William 3. It was a woderful party. Thanks to the help of the precious grandmothers and close friends I was able to get those edible creations ready in time. I always seem to forget how much time consuming they are... but oh so worth the extra efforts.

Here's is William's cake. He's just so much into trains right now, he loved it a lot.

Since we went to M+M world store in New York, he's obsessed with them, so I had to find a way to get some on the cake...

Now here's miss duckie for baby Sara:

Hope you'll forgive me for the lack of cards...

Have a nice stampin' day!!
