Whatever Challenge Wednesday -- Mojo Monday 145

Whatever Challenge Wednesdays features a challenge from the blogosphere, chosen randomly. Here's our pick for this week:

Hi everyone,

Today, we're playing with Mojo Monday's #145 sketch:

I chose round! I also decided to rotate the sketch to fit the main element on the card, being the #3 (for 3 years old!)...

I went into my SU retired stuff box (which is getting heavier by the minute since we've only got 1 day until the new catty!). Most of the elements and DSP comes from the Special Delivery Boy Simply Scrappin' from 2 years ago. But since the color Wild Wasabi is coming back on July 1st, I went for it as my main color. And I just happened to have some of those scallop circle note cards from then as well and that was the base of my card.

The number 3 on the measuring tape self-adhesive die-cut is peaking out the star and I thought that was a nice touch. I struggled a bit with all the elements but in the end, I made it work. The last touches I added were the faux-stitching on the Wild Wasabi circle and the little die-cut Apricot Appeal strip. It just ties everything together. The sentiment is from the French version of On Your Birthday stamp set, Pour ton anniversaire.

Find a challenge and go play with your stamps! CeeCee

Two 4 Tuesday -- Twins ?!!

Two for Tuesday features 2 projects that are similar in either color, theme, layout or embellishment but... with a different twist!

Hi everyone,

Here are my twin cards for today.

In the same pack of Stampin' Up! pattern paper, there is often the same pattern in two different color scheme. This was my trigger for those cards, exact same pattern and layout, two different color scheme and in the end, two different feelings. The orange is more joyful and energetic while the green one is more relaxing and peacefull. Don't forget to think about what sense you want to transmit in your next creation...changing the color really makes a difference!!

DSP used was the new Greenhouse Gala with Friends never fade stamp set. Ink, ribbon and cardstock colors are the ones coordinating with the DSP so, Pear Pizzazz, Daffoddil delight, Pumpkin pie, Baja Blue, Whisper White and Chocolate chip.

Have a nice stampin' day!

Quickie Mini Monday -- CPS173 Style

Quickie Mini Mondays feature a 10 minute-or-less project -- something fast, fun and easy to reproduce and mass produce.

Hi everyone,

I love repetition on my cards. I think it makes for a very eye-catching layout. It definitely is true of this sketch that I've decided to use from Card Positioning System:

And here's the final product. I decided to flip the layout and to incorporate 5 brads and one stamped image, instead of 6 of the same element.

I just can't get enough of this new Greenhouse Gala DSP and the new Level 2 Hostess Stamp Set, Cute By The Inch -- both products will be available this coming Thursday, July 1st!!! The polka dot elements are actually brads that I've removed the prongs so they sit flat against the Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon. Since this is intended for a very quick card, I kept the layers very simple, opting to use the 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" Square Punches. The little cupcake is stamped in Basic Brown (retiring June 30th) and colored with a Blender Pen and Classic Real Red Ink. I also added a little cherry on top of the cupcake using a tiny punched circle in Real Red Cardstock. Very easy to do!

Have a nice stampin' day! CeeCee

Sparkly Fun Friday -- Friends Scrapbook Page

Sparkly Fun Fridays features a sparkly or glittery project using shimmer paints, embossing powders, glitters, rhinestones... anything shiny to welcome the weekend in a fun way!!!

Hi everyone,

Another first today! A scrapbook page from me is really rare. I don't do it often enough; in fact almost not at all. But when I got my new stamp set, Friends Never Fade, I knew I had to make a scrapbook page with it.

I used the Greenhouse Gala DSP that will be featured in the SU's new Idea Book and Catalogue and I must say I'm totally in love with it. The colors are so much fun to work with. Here, we have Pumpkin Pie, Pear Pizzazz, Real Red and Whisper White.

The bling is all over the place and because I was running out of time, I used Stickles instead of my regular glitter.

I have to say that it's not an easy task to photograph a page... I'd love to hear some tips on that, if you have any to share. Just leave them in the comments below.

Have a great stampin' day! CeeCee

Sweet Treat Thursday -- Edible Centerpiece... Yuuuuummmm!

Sweet Treat Thursdays are all about food -- our other favorite topic -- and features ways to embellish/wrap/present something edible. CAUTION: May be hazardous to your waistline!

Hi everyone,

Boy o-boy, today was a new adventure for me. Anybody who's been to dinner at my house knows that really enjoy cooking. Baking? Now that's a different story all together. But I was determined to get this project done. I put on my Betty Crocker cap and, full steam ahead, delved into the realm of edible art.... yeah, well... what passes for edible does not necessarily mean perfectly beautiful. For a perfectionist like myself, that's a big undertaking.

Anyways, enough ramblin' on. Here's my edible Forest Friends centerpiece:

I saw these cute little mushrooms from the paper pony and I knew I had to try them. They're made with marshmallows and donut holes, or commonly know as Timbits! Add some red candy melt and a few white chocolate chips and you're done.... right?!

Yeah, mine didn't turn out as well as what I've seen. There are specks of white in the red candy melt (is it because I put the finished glazed donuts in the fridge to harden?), the white chips are supposed to be flat but I couldn't find them so I had to poke into the doughnut and that resulted in a few mishaps :-)

But at the end of the day, it's all good. It makes for quite an exciting centerpiece, don't you think? It's yummy, it's cute and there are funny little critters from the Forest Friends stamp set lurking amongst the mushrooms.

Yup, Betty Crocker I ain't but I can make a mean Chicken à la crème.

Have a nice stampin' day! CeeCee

Whatever Challenge Wednesday -- Faux leather purse 2S4Y #55

Whatever Challenge Wednesdays features a challenge from the blogosphere, chosen randomly.
Here's our pick for this week:

Hi everyone,

Today I chose to play with the girls at 2 sketches 4 you! here's this week's sketch:

Here's my version, a little card/purse/gift card holder (finished size : 5 ½ X 4):

First the flower was made in pretty in pink and old olive CS with the extra-large flower punch , there everywhere theses days, I also sprayed it with some homemade shimmer mist but as usual, it doesn't show on the picture. I hand stiched the edges to really make a purse look.

I used a FAUX leather technique that is soooooooo simple :versamark your cardstock every where, add clear embossing powder and BEFORE heating the powder, run you're bone folder across the take off curvy lines of embossing powder, then heat to melt the remaining powder.

Here you can see that the purse doesn't fold flat, in fact it's a 5½ X 11 piece of CS scored at 4, 4½, 5 and 9. WHY?? ... because it's hiding a little surprise for someone special.

Velcro closure, beads on a wire for handle, a mat for sentiment and handwritten message and a GIFT CARD HOLDER.

here's how its holding in place. I wrapped around a piece of satin ribbon vertically around the pretty in pink CS and stuck a inch piece horizontally, so simple, I wonder why I never thought of it before.

Have a nice stampin' day.

Two 4 Tuesday -- Big and Small

Two for Tuesday features 2 projects that are similar in either color, theme, layout or embellishment but... with a different twist!

Hi everyone,

First of all, let me just say a big thank you to all of you out there who have purchased the Color Inventory Tutorial since we launched it on Sunday. What an amazing response!!! Gen and I have been crazy busy but feel really blessed to be able to work so hard. I hope that you'll use this tool to its full potential.

Now, on to the cards. Today, I give you 2 cards using the same image, the same color scheme, the same DSP... the only difference? One's big and one's small!

the big one:

and the itty bitty one ( 3 X 3) :

Isn't this DSP yummy?! It's called Greenhouse Gala and will be featured in the new Idea Book and Catalogue come July 1st. I love love love the color scheme. Especially since Baja Breeze is coming back!

I'm thinking the small one could very well serve as a gift tag on a bag. The tiny ribbon used is also coming up in the new catalogue. The color is also a new color that will be introduced, Early Espresso. So cute!

I've also used a Level 2 hostess stamp set called Cute by the Inch, which has 9 images measuring one inch each... or inchies, if you prefer. Love them too. I used the new Pear Pizzazz marker and a Chocolate Chip marker to color the image.

I'm really happy how these 2 cards turned out. What do you think? Oh boy, I'm getting really excited about this new catty!!!

Have a nice stampin' day! CeeCee

Quickie Mini Monday -- cherries !!

Quickie Mini Mondays feature a 10 minute-or-less project -- something fast, fun and easy to reproduce and mass produce.

Hi everyone,

This is litterally a 10 minutes card.

I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to position the tiny and cute stamp from the level 1 hostess set "it's the thought" on Whisper White card.

Then I added colors with my blender pen with Pear pizzazz, Cherry Cobbler and Sahara sand Classic inks and/or markers. As a finishing touch, a tiny bit of white gel pen.

Have a nice stampin' day

Sparkly Fun Friday -- my new stuff

Sparkly Fun Fridays features a sparkly or glittery project using shimmer paints, embossing powders, glitters, rhinestones... anything shiny to welcome the weekend in a fun way!!!
Hi everyone,

today I finally took a little time to play with some new stuff...

You can see here two of the new Stampin' Up! in color : Pear pizzazz and Poppy parade.

I also played with a brand new stamp set : level 2 hostess Apple Blossoms, isn't it gorgeous??

I really love the softness of those images paired with the new colors, so for a little touch of texture, I used my new (to me!!) itty bitty punch. They're so tiny and cute, love'em , love'em, love'em!! I added a bit of Crystal Effect in the middle of the flower

I made a couple of them because I tought they would be the perfect gift card set for a teacher gift, to show them our appreciation of their awesome work.

Have a nice Stampin' day!!

Sweet Treat Thursday -- STRAWBERRY!!!!

Sweet Treat Thursdays are all about food -- our other favorite topic -- and features ways to embellish/wrap/present something edible. CAUTION: May be hazardous to your waistline!

Hi everyone,

Every Friday, I meet up with my friend Caroline for a scrapbooking playdate. Of course, no playdate would be complete without some kind of treat. And when the mood strikes me (or when my 2 + 1 kids allow me extra time), I like to bake. For our date last week, I decided to bake strawberry cupcakes.

Since they say presentation is half of the eating experience, I thought I would present Caroline's cupcake in a cute little box:

There are real strawberries in both the cupcake AND the icing. Yuuuuuuuuummmmmmyyy!!!

The box is a modified version of this project. I used the Rockabilly DSP (retired) to cover the outside panels of the box and the belly band is a piece of Old Olive CS.

Here's a view of the box when it opens up to reveal the yumm-o cupcake.

To embellish the belly band, I used 2 Whisper White punched circles, 2 Basic Black punched Extra-Large Flowers and Old Olive swirls made with the Swirls Scribbles Sizzlits die for the Big Shot. The cute little strawberries were stamped from the Tart & Tangy Stamp Set using Old Olive and Riding Hood Red markers.

OK, who's hungry?! :-)

Have a nice stampin' day! Gen

Whatever Challenge Wednesday -- SSSC73

Whatever Challenge Wednesdays features a challenge from the blogosphere, chosen randomly. Here's our pick for this week:

Hi everyone,

For this Wednesday's challenge, we're playing with the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #73. Here's the sketch:
and here's my interpretation. It's quite colorful, even for me, but little girl inspired me to choose these colors (now, if I were really truthful i'd say she "spoke" to me ... but then some people might say I'm crazy!).

The coloring was done with a mixture of Stampin' Up! Markers and some coloring pencils and Gamsol.

This one is going to a customer of mine who requested a few custom cards -- twelve down ... 3 to go!

Have a nice stampin' day! CeeCee
