Two 4 Tuesday -- Shelli's origami box tutorial

Two for Tuesday features 2 projects that are similar in either color, theme, layout or embellishment but... with a different twist!

Hi everyone,

After looking at photos from last covention, I saw a couple of them from Shelli's (Stampin' Up! CEO) presentation where she made a cute origami box, so I decided to try it out and I made my own pattern. Since I didn't go to convention I don't have access to the template she provided so mine probably has differents dimensions. Also, to make sure it would fit our Two 4 Tuesday theme, and came up with six 2 3/4 X2 3/4 cards, 2 different colors for each model.

All the kit uses Thoroughly Modern DSP with its coordinating colors Rose Red, Sahara Sand, Bermuda Bay and Soft Suede. The Very Thankful stamp set used here is avalaible in French , English or Spanish and best of all for FREE during SAB.

Here's my glittered peacock:

The turtle was brought to life with Classic inks and a blender pen.

Instead of trying to glue a little piece of CS in the middle of each flower, I punched some holes and put a rose red CS in the back so it show through without the mess...

Now for the "famous" box... Finished size is 3 X 3 X 1 so you can fit 2 3/4 X 2 3/4 note card in it but not their enveloppes(other wise it wouldn't be so easy to fit in a 12X12 sheet of CS).

First you begin a 12 X 7 sheet of CS here in textured Sahara Sand

  • on the 12" side , score @ 1, 1½, 4½, 7½, 10½ and 11

  • on the 7" side score @ 3 and 4.

Now cut and fold according to this template :
You should now have something like that :
You then put your notecard inside like this :

Fold it a little more:

Then fold the smaller sides first, and then the ones with the long tabs:

Decorate as you wish.

Here's the back side view.

Close it up with a wire clip or a library clips and you're done, no glue at all !!!

Hope you enjoyed this tutorial see you tomorrow

Have a nice stampin' day

Gen, I must say how I am impressed by your project ideas. I must give this origami box a try. Thank you so much for the tutorial and the template. It means a lot.
I love that DP. Unfortunately, it is not very popular on the blogs I visit. Fortunately, you've made excellent use of it :-)
