Sweet Treat Thursday -- Felt Reindeer for Candy Canes

Sweet Treat Thursdays are all about food -- our other favorite topic -- and features ways to embellish/wrap/present something edible. CAUTION: May be hazardous to your waistline!

Hi everyone,

Oooooh, I had sooooo much fun with this project?! I bought a whole bunch of candy canes last weekend with a project in mind. I didn't quite know how to go about it until Gen pointed out a card she had made with punches and a sweet treat cup last winter. So I decided to replicate it, using felt.  But since I was using fabric as opposed to cardstock, the fun part was substituting punches that she'd used for Big Shot dies. And I did it! Check this little guy out!!!

Ooooh, isn't he cute?! I love him! Every single piece was cut out with dies and glued together with a hot glue gun. I used 2 Top Note pieces; one to hold the candy canes by making slits in the felt with a hobby knife and the other one to use as the face. Both pieces of felt are then glued together. Easy-peasy!

Here are the dies I used:
  • Top Note
  • Simple Letters Alpha "w,x,y,z,..." -- on that die there are tiny little circles which I've used for the inside of the reindeer's eyes.
  • Circles #2
  • Movers and Shapers with the Ornament magnetic die

I'm gonna be making a few of those to give to kids over Christmas.  I can see it being a good decoration on a gift also. You can add a little tag to one of the candy canes with the name of the person.

I'm going out to shop for a warmer kind of brown felt. I find this one is too dark.

Have a nice stampin' day !!!
